I hope you enjoyed having a good look through your wardrobe, it really is amazing what you can find when you have a good old clear out. My next blog will focus on dressing for spring and help you spring clean your wardrobe. But this time I am getting personal…

Saturday 21st April isn’t just the Queen’s birthday it’s the day my sister gets married – what better day to feel like royalty? To mark the occasion this blog celebrates 60 years of royal fashion.

In the 1940s Norman Hartnell, produced many of Her Majesty’s finest evening dresses. His signature style of the 1940s and 1950s was full-skirted dresses in sumptuous silks and duchesse satins.

Hardy Amies started designing clothes for The Queen in the early 1950s Her birthday outfit in 1969 is one of the most memorable designs by Hardy Amies.

In the 1970s The Queen awarded her patronage to Ian Thomas. Thomas’s flowing chiffon dresses from the 1970s reflect the relaxed style of the decade.

Between 1988 and 1996, Her Majesty’s dresses were designed by John Anderson. Karl Ludwig Rehse took in 1988 and the Queen still wears his designs today.

Stewart Parvin, the youngest of Her Majesty’s designers, began to design for The Queen in 2000 and continues to do so.

Since 2002 Angela Kelly has been designing clothes for The Queen. Her bold pink outfit for the start of the her diamond Jubilee tour was designed by Angela.

Kate Middleton our Queen of Fashion wears 1940s inspired from LK Bennett.

Joe Hickey of DadNet has just sent the following about the photos recently taken of him & his family for his fantastic blog about being a first time father:

Joe Hickey of DadNet with his wonderful son Tyler

“I have worked with Sally multiple times over the past couple of years and can easily say I will continue to for as long as I can.

Sally’s work is nothing short of superb. She uses her vast knowledge and experience of photography to the best of her ability and will never disappoint.

She is extremely easy to get along with and discuss idea’s with, as well as offering some very creative idea’s of her own. A keen eye for details and knows what needs to be done.

I cannot recommend Sally Evans highly enough.”

Welcome back to Top Tip Thursday. I hope you’ve had a chance to catch up on the last blog? If not, you need to… ‘Bagging a Real Bargain’ will help you understand how to shop for your body shape as well as giving you the essential tips to enhancing your natural colourings. This Thursday the focus is on building a successful capsule wardrobe to help you look effortlessly stylist everyday…

We’ve all been there ‘I’ve got nothing to wear’ ‘I hate the way I look’ and ‘I am not going’. Sometimes for us wonderful ladies it can be different to pick out the right outfit, whether that’s for a wedding, job interview or just socialising with the girls.

This week’s blog gives you the essential top 3 tips to creating your very own capsule wardrobe to help take some of the stress out of getting ready.

Building your wardrobe

A stylish woman doesn’t have to dress in a different outfit everyday! Your well designed wardrobe will have two or more capsules or a few garments which work together to create different outfits for all lifestyle activities. Start to think less in more – an efficient capsule wardrobe reduces, not increases, the number of garments so they all maximum wear.

A bare minimum of 10 carefully chosen garments, each co-ordinating together could produce at least 36 different outfits. A small selection of scarves, jewellery and belts will increase that further. The trick is to wear different tops to create variety in your looks as we tend to notice what people wear close to their face rather than skirts or trousers.

Playing by the rules…

Your colour pallet must be adhered to

Two or three neutral colours should be chosen as the building blocks of the capsule

Wardrobe requirements relating to your lifestyle must be defined and each aspect covered appropriately

Your style personality must be understand and applied to your outfits consistently

The cut and fabric must be correct in all the garments

There must be more tops than bottoms: a minimum of three different tops and two jackets that go with every skirt or trousers

These are just a few of the essential tips for dressing your best. I’ll be bringing your fortnightly top tips every Thursday to help you dress you’re best.

It’s FRIDAY, well almost! If you’re out and about shopping this weekend for you or for something special for Mother’s Day on the 18th March here’s some essential tips to consider…

I know we all love a bargain and that feeling of ‘I only paid £10 for this’ but ask yourself is it really a total steal if you never wear it?

It’s scary to think that in our lifetimes’ we can waste a staggering £12,000 on clothes that just hang in our wardrobes with the tags on. Before you rush out and ‘bag your bargains’ here’s a 3 top tips to help you make good investments rather than costly mistakes.

1. Colour Confidence Doing nothing for your complexion?… then put it back.

If you’re after a new wardrobe to help you feel better about yourself then make sure you consider how the colour of the garments change your complexion. If you wear the right colours, especially very close to your face, you’ll boost your confidence instantly.

If you have light colourings, i.e. blond hair and blue eyes opt for lighter colours for example Taupe, light blues and pinks.

If you’re a dark eyed brunette go for deeper, darker colours such as peacock blue, forest green or burgundy.

2. Think about the fit? If you’re curvy, avoid covering them up with boxy style garments, believe me it’ll only make you look bigger than you are. Go for softer, drapier fabrics, which compliment your curves, in semi fitted or belted designs. If your body is straight up and down, compliment your shape with asymmetrical necklines and straighter styles such as pencil skirts and stiffer fabrics.

3. Consider your body’s scale… If you’re petite avoid anything with large bold patterns, oversized handbags and huge clumpy heels they will all drown you and make you look smaller then you are. If you’re in my big is beautiful club then avoid very small patterns and very delicate heels and fabrics. Instead go for larger scale handbags and jewelry. Whatever your height or clothes size, try to buy garments in the right fabric weight for your scale.

These are just a few of the essential tips for dressing your best. I’ll be bringing your fortnightly top tips every Thursday to help you dress your best.

I’m really pleased to announce that we have a new guest blogger who will be sharing some insights and useful tips with you over the coming weeks. I am very pleased and excited to welcome ‘Identity’ by Rose Meredith to our blog & to introduce her to you.

I was introduced to Rose a few months ago and was impressed by Rose’s talent for Image Consultancy as well as her lovely friendly personality – and now I would like to introduce Rose to you as she will be sharing her thoughts with you about your image every fortnight from today.

So without further ado or undue waffling, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Rose and let her tell you a bit more about herself in her own words.

Rose Meredith of 'Identity'

“I am very excited to be working alongside Sally Evans Photography. I have been following her work for sometime now so it gives me great pleasure to be a part of personalised approach Sally takes with all her clients.

I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about IDENTITY.

I had a passion for style from a very young age. As a child I loved making clothes and putting on fashion shows in the back garden and as soon as I was old enough I “invested” all my pocket money in new shoes!

I enjoyed a part time modelling career appearing in international TV ads and fashion magazines such as Cosmopolitan. Then after graduating and having successful career in Marketing I decided to follow my passion. It was love for helping others that inspired me to become an Image Consultant and create IDENTITY.

I qualified as an accredited Image Consultant after intensive training with Frances Bodington, former president of the International Federation of Image Consultants and former retail editor at Vogue magazine.

I truly believe everyone should have the opportunity to look and feel their best and I see it as my job to help boost people confidence to create their own Identity.”

All services provided by IDENTITY are tailored to individual needs and budgets, so clients can build their personal styling experience and get the most from your investment. Experiences are designed to give to clients unique advice and invaluable tips to help them make the most of their natural attributes. For a full range of services visit www.rosemeredith.co.uk
